Bali Visa assists clients in obtaining authentic SKCK certificates (Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian) each week. Unfortunately, about 25% of our clients, especially those from Russia, have faced visa rejections from Spanish immigration authorities due to receiving counterfeit certificates of good conduct, prompting them to seek our assistance.

To help prevent similar issues, this guide provides essential tips for choosing a reliable visa agency, recognizing the signs of a counterfeit SKCK, and ensuring your Certificate of Good Conduct is legitimate.

By understanding how to verify your SKCK, you can avoid unnecessary delays, immigration complications, and even visa rejections from other countries. Our goal is to support you through a smooth, successful application process.

What is a Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK) in Indonesia

Certificate of Good Conduct (also known as SKCK) is an official document confirming the absence of a criminal record during your stay in Indonesia. This document is valid for 6 months.

It is issued by the Indonesian National Police and is available to both local residents and foreigners who have held a KITAS/KITAP (Temporary Stay Permit) at any point in time.

How to Choose a Reliable Agency for Your SKCK Certificate

Finding a trustworthy agency is the first step in securing an authentic Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK). Here are critical factors to consider:

  • Registration Number or NIB: Make sure the agency has a legally registered NIB or business number, proving it’s recognized by local authorities.

  • Physical Office: A reliable agency should have an official address, which you can visit or contact if needed.

  • Professional Website: Look for a well-organized website that displays the agency’s company information, services, and contact details. This adds credibility.

  • Company Bank Account: Payments should go to a registered company bank account, not a personal one, indicating the business is transparent and legitimate.

Working with an agency that meets these standards can help you avoid scams and ensure a smooth process.

How to Verify if a Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK) is Real

When you receive your Certificate of Good Conduct SKCK, inspect it carefully for authenticity by checking these key elements:

How to Verify if a Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK) is Real

  1. Format & Design: A genuine Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK) features an official font and format. Older formats include religious affiliation or fingerprint sections, which are now removed. If your SKCK includes these outdated elements, it may be invalid or fake.
  2. Authorized Signature: Ensure the document is signed by the current authorized official. As of now, the official signatory is FERI R. SITORUS, S.I.K, M.H. If this name does not match, double-check with the issuing authority.
  3. Correct English Usage: Authentic Certificates of Good Conduct are generally well-written with accurate English, especially for names and passport details. Spelling or grammatical errors in these areas may indicate the document is counterfeit.
  4. Verify by doing Apostille: An Apostille Certificate is a specialized document that legalizes and verifies official documents. When you do an apostille and they refuse your application or it takes more than one week for them to verify your document, it means your SKCK is fake.

For added assurance, you can verify the Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK) directly by contacting an Indonesian police station or emailing skck@polri.go.id.

Avoid Using Facebook for Services

Using Facebook to find Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK) services can be risky, as most offers on the platform are scams. Be cautious of ads that:

  • Lack a registered company name, physical address, or official website.
  • Offer Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK) services at suspiciously low prices (typically under 1 million IDR).

To avoid losing money or receiving a fake document, stick to agencies with verified online presences and registered businesses.

Processing Time for SKCK

When applying for a Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK) without any special connections with the police or officer, the process usually takes about one week.

Agencies claiming to get it done in 1 day without any connections should be treated with caution, as this is often a sign of a scam. For a genuine SKCK, patience is necessary, as the process takes time.

Know the Standard SKCK Service Fees

Understanding the typical cost of SKCK services can help you spot scams. Generally, Certificate of Good Conduct (SKCK) service fees are around 1.400.000 IDR.

If you see a service priced significantly lower (below 1 million IDR), it is likely not genuine and could result in a fake certificate.

Comparing prices among trusted agencies helps ensure you are paying a fair amount for a legitimate service.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the main visual differences between a real SKCK and a fake one?

Real SKCK certificates have a specific format, font, and official details like the current authorized signatory, FERI R. SITORUS, S.I.K, M.H. Be wary of documents with older formats (such as those that include religious affiliation or fingerprints), as they may be invalid. Additionally, genuine SKCKs are usually free of spelling or grammar errors, especially in critical areas like names or passport details.

  • I’ve heard that you need a KITAS to obtain an SKCK, but some agencies offer SKCK services without it. Could these be fake?

To get a full SKCK, a KITAS is indeed required. However, if you don’t have a KITAS, you can still obtain an SKCK statement letter, which serves a similar purpose but has a different format and is written in Indonesian. So, it is possible to get an SKCK without a KITAS, but you would receive an SKCK statement letter or, in some cases, a rejection letter instead of the full SKCK.

  • Is there any other way to verify an SKCK without getting an apostille?

Yes, you can verify it by checking the format, font size, and for now the official signatory is FERI R. SITORUS, S.I.K, M.H. Additionally, you also can visit a police station in person or by emailing skck@polri.go.id
