Family Dependent KITAS (Spouse, Child, Parent, Sibling) – 2025 Guide

Family Dependent KITAS Indonesia 2025 – Long-Term Stay Visa for Spouses, Children, and Parents of KITAS/KITAP Holders

    Overview of Family Dependent KITAS

The Family Dependent KITAS is a Limited Stay Permit designed for family members of KITAS or KITAP holders in Indonesia. This visa allows spouses, children, parents, and siblings to legally live in Bali or anywhere in Indonesia, ensuring that families can stay together during long-term residence.

It is the ideal solution for foreign families who wish to enjoy life in Bali while complying with Indonesian immigration laws.

    Purpose

The Family Dependent KITAS is intended to:

    • Allow foreign family members of KITAS/KITAP holders to reside in Indonesia.
    • Support family unity and stability for long-term residents.

    Validity

    • Available in 1-year and 2-year options.
    • Renewable up to 5 years under the same sponsorship.
    • After 5 years, dependents may transition to a Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP).

    Extension Possibility

    • Renewable annually or biennially depending on the visa type.
    • After 5 years of continuous stay, a KITAP may be granted.
    • If the main sponsor’s KITAS/KITAP is cancelled, the dependent’s permit also becomes invalid.

    Applicable Activities

    Family Dependent KITAS holders may:

    • Reside in Indonesia legally with their family.
    • Access healthcare, schooling, and insurance services.
    • Open a local bank account and obtain an Indonesian driver’s license.
    • Apply for SKTT (Temporary Residence Card).

⚠️ Note: Family Dependent KITAS holders are not allowed to work or engage in income-generating activities in Indonesia.

Essential Documentation for Family Dependent KITAS Application

Applicants typically need to prepare the following:

    • Valid Nationality Passport at least 6 (six) months.
    • Proof of living expenses of at least US$2000 (two thousand American dollars) or equivalent.
    • Latest color photograph.
    • Curriculum Vitae.
    • Travel Itinerary.
    • Proof of guarantee from the Guarantor or a statement of commitment from the husband or wife
    • Marriage certificate or marriage book that has been translated into Indonesian by a sworn translator except those that have been written in English
    • A valid Limited Stay Permit/Permanent Stay Permit or Limited Stay Visa of the husband or wife.

💡 Additional documents may be required depending on nationality and local Immigration rules.

    KITAS Extension Information

    • Renewable up to 5 years in total.
    • After reaching 5 years, a KITAP application is possible.
    • Dependents must always be tied to the main sponsor’s valid KITAS or KITAP.

⚠️ Overstaying leads to a fine of IDR 1,000,000/day and may result in deportation or blacklisting.

Processing Time of Family Dependent KITAS

    • Offshore application: 10–15 working days (express 7–10 days)
    • Onshore conversion: 3–4 weeks (passport kept by Immigration)

💡 Best practice: Apply at least 2–3 weeks before expiry to avoid overstay.
