Parent KITAS (1 Year, 2 Years) – 2025 Guide : Dependent Visa for Parents of KITAS Holders

Parent KITAS Indonesia 2025 – Long-Term Dependent Visa for Foreign Parents of KITAS or KITAP Holders Living in Bali

    Overview of Parent KITAS

The Parent KITAS is a Limited Stay Permit designed for the foreign parents of a KITAS or KITAP holder in Indonesia. This visa ensures that parents can legally reside in Bali or anywhere in Indonesia while being supported by their child who holds a valid KITAS or KITAP.

It is a popular option for families who want to bring their parents to live together in Indonesia, providing comfort, security, and legal residency during their stay.

    Purpose

    • To allow parents of KITAS/KITAP holders to legally reside in Indonesia.
    • To ensure family support and togetherness during long-term residence.
    • To provide dependent status for parents under their child’s sponsorship.

    Validity

    • Available in 1-year and 2-year options.
    • Renewable for up to 5 consecutive years under the same sponsorship.
    • After 5 years, parents may transition to a Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP) if eligible.

    Extension Possibility

    • Renewable annually or biennially depending on the visa type.
    • After 5 years of continuous stay, a KITAP may be issued.
    • If the sponsoring child’s KITAS/KITAP is revoked, the Parent KITAS also becomes invalid.

    Applicable Activities

     Parent KITAS holders may:

    • Legally reside in Indonesia with their child.
    • Access healthcare, insurance, and local community services.
    • Apply for a Temporary Residence Card (SKTT) at the Civil Registry Office.

⚠️ Note: Parent KITAS holders are not permitted to work or engage in any income-generating activities in Indonesia.

Essential Documentation for Child KITAS Application

Applicants typically need to prepare the following:

    • Valid Nationality Passport at least 6 (six) months
    • Proof of living expenses of at least US$2000 (two thousand American dollars) or equivalent
    • Latest color photograph
    • Curriculum Vitae
    • Travel Itinerary
    • Proof of guarantee from the Guarantor or statement of commitment of his/her parents
    • Birth certificate that has been translated into Indonesian by a sworn translator, except it is written in English
    • The children’s valid Limited Stay Permit/Permanent Stay Permit or Limited Stay Visa

💡 Additional documents may be required depending on nationality and Immigration regulations.

    Visa Extension Information

    • The Parent KITAS can be renewed for up to 5 years in total.
    • After 5 years, parents may apply for a KITAP under dependent status.
    • The dependent status is always tied to the validity of the child’s KITAS/KITAP.

⚠️ Overstay Warning: Overstaying a KITAS results in fines of IDR 1,000,000/day and may lead to deportation or blacklisting.

    Processing Time of Parent KITAS

    Offshore Application:

    • Standard: 10–15 working days
    • Express: 7–10 working days

    Onshore Conversion:
